This is not rocket science, but I thought I would share, because until a couple of years ago, I had never seen this food pairing, and it is now one of my favorite.
I recently found a delicious goat’s milk Gouda at Trader Joe’s, which works great for this because it is creamy and rich without being very overpowering. If you have a Trader Joe’s, they have some really great gourmet-type cheeses that are inexpensive in comparison to other grocery stores, and often have raw milk and goat’s/sheep’s milk cheeses too.
What you do, is take a little bite-sized slice of cheese, and then spread it with jam. That’s all. I used a fig jam that is only sweetened with fruit juice. If you want, you can eat this on a little cracker (I sometimes like the plain round rice crackers,) or put a pecan, almond, or other nut on top, and have it that way.
